<p>Born and raised in Washington, D.C. in the shadow of the Capitol building and the White House, Hollomand graduated from Howard University’s College of Dentistry and spent six years in the U.S. Air Force, three of which at a base near Paris, France. It was in Paris where Hollomand began his study of art and of sculpture in particular. </p>
<p>Through the years, Dr. Hollomand designed and made jewelry and also worked on facial prostheses for post surgery patients. The years in dentistry which involved the close observance of facial forms and function provided a unique preparation for the study of sculpture.</p>
<p>Formal study began at the Bob Cunningham Studio in Los Angeles. There, Dr. Hollomand added grace and form to the manual skills and knowledge of anatomy he had developed over the years. </p>
<p>Robert Hollomand sculpture creates a figure with a certain body language and a face that conveys the body’s message. “I strive to capture a mood, motion or a slice of life in clay then preserve it in bronze. That challenge is intoxicating to me.”</p>
