<p>Shulin Sun (Chuan Shi 川石, pen name, which means mountain and stone), is a nationally and internationally reknowned fine artist. He enjoys a high reputation for his moody landscapes and has earned praise for his unique marriage of oriental and western artistry.</p>
<p>Sun started drawing in his childhood and later followed Mr. Keran Li, a Master of Chinese Traditional Painting. Mr. Keran Li was a student of Master Baishi Qi, a revered artist in Chinese art history.</p>
<p>1978-1982, Studied in the Department of Fine Art, Beijing Normal University. Majored in Traditional Chinese painting. </p>
<p>1989-1998, Served as Director of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Research Association and the Minister of Art Displaying Department.</p>
<p>1998-present, Mr. Sun and his family moved to the United States. He continued to create new artworks and to develop new art style that is full of oriental and western culture. </p>
<p>2002, Mr. Sun served as the Director of Evaluation Committee of Michigan Asian Youth Art Competition, USA.</p>
<p>2004, Mr. Sun served as the Director of Evaluation Committee of the Pan-America Asian Youth Art Competition, USA.</p>
<p>2006, Mr. Sun served as the Director of Evaluation Committee of the Pan-America Asian Youth Art Competition, USA.</p>
<p><strong>EXHIBITIONS AND AWARDS:</strong></p>
<p>In October, 1987, Mr. Sun was invited by the University of Luxembourg and Federal Republic of Germany to hold a successful individual art exhibition.</p>
<p>In March, 1990, his artwork “The Rhyme of Pines, Wind and Spring” was selected by the Japanese and Chinese Friendship Association and was awarded a Gold Medal at the Japanese Friendship Book and Art Exhibition.</p>
<p>In May, 1993, Mr. Sun participated in the Chinese Outstanding Authors’ Artwork Exhibition, which was held in Sapporo, Japan.</p>
<p>In January, 1994, Mr. Sun participated in the “Yao Hua Bei” Calligraphy and Painting Competition sponsored by the Chinese Artist Association, Chinese Calligrapher Association and Chinese Three Gorges Publishing House. His artwork “The Spirits of The Three Gorges” received a special award.</p>
<p>In 1994, Mr. Sun participated in the Ten-Thousand-Mile Loving-letter Landscape Art Exhibition, which was held in Singapore.</p>
<p>In October of 1995, Mr. Sun participated in the Fine Arts Teacher International Calligraphy and Painting Competition and Exhibition, sponsored by the Taiwan China Fine Arts Association. His artwork “The Spring Breeze Green The Bank of JiangNan” earned praises from colleagues for its quality and unique artistry and skills, and received the highest honorary award.</p>
<p>In December, 1995, Mr. Sun’s artwork “The Strong Landscape” won the copper prize in the ”Long Live Motherland” ---JUNLONG 95’ Chinese Books and Painting Competition, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China, Chinese Federation of Literature, National Overseas Residents Association, National Youth, Chinese America Association and The Chinese Books Association.</p>
<p>In June, 1996, Mr. Sun’ artwork “The Spring of Chiangnan” won the Gold Medal in the International Fine Arts Competition held in South Korea. </p>
<p>In October of 1996, Mr. Sun held individual art exhibition in Houston,Texas Of the United States.</p>
<p><strong>PUBLIC COLLECTIONS:</strong></p>
<p>In October, 1995, his artwork “The Boat Dwellers” was collected by The Japanese Village Art Museum.</p>
<p>In April, 1995, Mr. Sun’s artwork “The Late Autumn” was selected for collection by the Contemporary China Famous Expert Calligraphies and Paintings. </p>
<p>In 2007, one of Mr. Sun’s most recent masterpieces untitled “Du Pu’s Thatched Cottage” was selected for collection by the Zhong Hua Qin’s Contemporary Collections of Chinese Famous Artists’ Calligraphy and Paintings.</p>
<p><strong>PUBLICATIONS:</strong></p>
<p>In 1989, the Taiwanese magazine “China Culture and the Artistic” published an interview with the scenery painter – Mr. Shulin Sun for his artwork “Spring Rain Coming Late and Hasty”.</p>
<p>In 1991, Beijing Youth Daily published an interview untitled “The Power of Perseverance End to Have”.</p>
<p>In 1995, The People's Fine Arts Publishing House published “The Selected Paintings by Shulin Sun."</p>
