Light From the Past - Ian Hornak
Paintings and works on paper range from the mid 1960s to shortly before the artist's untimely death at age 58. In an April, 2009 review of Hornak's work, Alan Artner, the art critic for the Chicago Tribune, noted that the artist's landscapes and still lifes in which hot color is allied with tight, hyperrealistic rendering was after a splashy intensity more the province of Romantics and Symbolists of an earlier age. |

Niels Strobek - Coming September 25 through November, 2009, Solo Exhibition featuring eight new paintings.
Niels Strobek (b. 1944) is one of Denmark's greatest living artists, and the leading name in the field of neorealism. Unlike other Danish neorealists, he is not influenced by American photorealism, a trend that had barely begun when Strobek displayed his first neorealist paintings in 1966. Galleries Sternberg is proud to represent Niels Strobek's work in the United States. |
